Gold Coast SUNS have made further changes to its AFLW list after informing Shannon Danckert and Annise Bradfield that they would not be offered contracts for the upcoming NAB AFLW Season Eight.

Danckert, a former Emma Zielke Medal winner and Bond University captain in the QAFLW, played 13 matches across two seasons at the GC SUNS.

After being taken with Pick 7 in the 2020 AFLW draft, Bradfield played five matches for the SUNS after battling a serious knee injury which sidelined her for more than 18 months.

GC SUNS Head of Women’s Football Fiona Sessarago thanked the duo for their contributions to the club.

“Shannon has had a tremendous influence on the playing group, both on and off the field, over the last two AFLW seasons,” Sessarago said.

“Annise’s dedication to overcoming adversity after injuries and setbacks has been admirable and she’s been a valuable member of our squad across three seasons.

“On behalf of the club, we would like to wish both Shannon and Annise all the best in their next chapters.”

The club has added four new faces to its AFLW list so far during the AFLW Sign & Trade Period with Maddy Brancatisano (Richmond), Jordan Membrey (Collingwood), Clara Fitzpatrick (St Kilda) and Ella Maurer (North Melbourne) joining the SUNS.

The SUNS have also bolstered its draft hand throughout the Sign & Trade Period, adding Pick 6 to its haul which now includes Pick 6, 10, 28 & 46 at the upcoming NAB AFLW Draft.
