The StreetSmarts Gold Coast SUNS Academy had another monstrous win on the weekend, this time coming in the Coates Talent League Girls competition.

Consisting of the best Under 19 players from its zones, the SUNS Academy thumped the Western Jets 21.3 (129) to 3.2 (20).

There were a number of key contributors in the win, but two standouts were reigning National Under 16 Pool B MVP Ava Usher and Havana Harris.

Usher booted four goals and a behind from 20 disposals to go with an additional four marks, five tackles and 11 inside 50’s.

Harris dominated the ruck for the SUNS and finished with 24 hitouts, 19 disposals, six inside 50’s and a goal.

Evy Reeves was resolute in defence for the SUNS alongside Tara Harrington, while Charlotte Adamson and Josie McCabe did damage at the other end and were influential.

Under 16 Queensland MVP Alannah Welsh kicked 4.1 from 15 disposals of her own, along with four marks and six tackles.

Georja Davies, sister of SUNS AFLW players Giselle and Darcie, booted three goals straight while also supporting in the ruck with 11 hitouts in the win.

The SUNS had 11 goal scorers in total for the match, and after conceding the first major of the match, piled on 16 unanswered goals to put the result beyond doubt by three-quarter time.

The SUNS next take on the undefeated Oakleigh Chargers in Round 9 of the Coates Talent League on Sunday at La Trobe University in Melbourne, first bounce 2:30pm.
