The Gold Coast SUNS can provide an update on co-captain Jarrod Witts after the ruckman sustained a knock late in the win over Collingwood at People First Stadium.

Scans have revealed Witts has sustained a fractured vertebrae and will be sidelined for this weekend’s match against North Melbourne as he recovers.

“Jarrod received a knee to the back during a marking contest midway through the last quarter against Collingwood,” GC SUNS Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull said.

“He went for scans on Monday and the results show a small fracture in his back. He will miss this week’s match and be assessed next week before determining a return to play.”

Small forward Malcolm Rosas Jnr will has recovered from his calf injury and will be available for selection this week, while Lachie Weller is just two weeks away from a return after his ACL injury last year.
