VFL: SUNS SET TONE FOR TRIPLE HEADER

The SUNS VFL side successfully launched the Gold Coast’s triple header clash at People First Stadium on a windy Saturday afternoon against Richmond.

Gold Coast defended its fortress against the eighth-placed Tigers with a 17-point victory 10.18 (78) to 9.7 (61).

After a slow start, electric forwards Malcolm Rosas Jnr (four goals) and Caleb Lewis (three) lit up the scoreboard with three goals apiece in the first half, soaring the SUNS to a game-high 36 point lead at half-time.

Pouncing back from a goalless second quarter, the Tigers roared with successive majors in the opening minutes of the third term to claw its way back to a 21-point margin at the final change.

StreetSmarts Academy and 2025 Telstra AFL Draft prospect, Zeke Uwland, slotted his first VFL goal in the final term securing a safe buffer for the SUNS.

David Swallow (34 disposals, six tackles), Leo Lombard (eight tackles and Ned Moyle (49 hit-outs, 10 score involvements) were just a few of the SUNS shining on the field. Will Graham (seven inside-50s, 18 disposals) and Jake Rogers (seven inside 50s, 10 contested possessions) were influential across the forward half, contributing to an inside 50 domination of plus 24.

Gold Coast take on Carlton at IKON Park, Melbourne next Sunday, August 10. Catch all the action via the official AFL & VFL apps and websites.
