Several StreetSmarts SUNS Academy stars will feature in the U18 Girls All Australian Team.
The AFL named Gold Coast prospects Georja Davies, Sunny Lappin, Alannah Welsh, Rhianna Ingram and Mikayla Nurse in the squad, following their outstanding performances across the 2025 Marsh AFL National Championships.
“We’re thrilled to see so many local talents earn selection for the All Australian Team,” StreetSmarts SUNS Academy manager Kath Newman said.
“This incredible achievement is a testament to the to the hard work, talent and dedication these girls have put in as well as a reflection of our Academy’s commitment to nurturing future stars.”
Averaging an impressive 25.2 disposals (12.5 contested), 5.5 clearances and 4.2 tackles across the tournament, crafty midfielder/forward, Lappin was awarded Team MVP and secured runner-up best and fairest player of the Championships, amassing 23 votes.
The All Australian Team and best and fairest voting panel comprised Kevin Sheehan (AFL Talent Ambassador – Chair), Paul Hamilton (AFL National Talent Development & Competitions Manager), Jess Smith (AFL Talent Pathways Operations Manager), Tarkyn Lockyer (AFL National Academy Manager) and AFL club representatives Trent Moseby (Richmond), Phoebe Carter (Sydney Swans), Jordan Loxley (West Coast Eagles) and Dan Fisher (Western Bulldogs).
Across the Championships, Queensland defeated Western Australia 9.5 (59) to 8.8 (56), Victoria Country 6.4 (40) to 3.10 (28) and South Australia 5.4 (34) to 4.8 (32) only falling short to the Allies 8.9 (57) to 6.15 (51).
Despite an equal victory record of three wins and one loss, Victoria Metro ultimately won the title based on percentage.
