SUNS midfielder Matt Rowell will be a test for Sunday’s Round 4 clash against Melbourne at the MCG.

Rowell has been sidelined since suffering a fractured finger during AFL Origin, and is tracking well in his bid to return to action.

“Matt is progressing strongly in his recovery. We have several training sessions ahead of Sunday’s match, we will continue to monitor his progress and make a call on his availability closer to game day,” GC SUNS Head Physiotherapist Andrew Weller said.

Off-season recruit Jamarra Ugle-Hagan will be sidelined in the short-term after undergoing a small operation on his knee.

“Jamarra has undergone a clean-up of his meniscus with which he has reported soreness since the AAMI Community Series game against Brisbane,” Weller added.

“He has persevered throughout recent weeks, but the decision to undergo an operation was made with long-term goals in mind. He will be unavailable for selection for at least a couple of weeks."

Christian Petracca continues to tick the boxes in his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury suffered in Round 2 and is now unavailable in the short-term.

Nick Holman will be unavailable in the short term after picking up a small hamstring complaint at training. Cooper Bell is also progressing well through concussion protocols following a collision in the VFL Round 1 match.
