SUNS captain Noah Anderson has been ruled out of Saturday’s match against Essendon after undergoing an operation to have his appendix removed.
Anderson had surgery on Monday evening and will be unavailable in the short-term.
“Noah is now recovering following a successful operation on Monday to remove his appendix. He won’t be available for selection this weekend, and we will continue to monitor his progress over the coming weeks,” GC SUNS Head Physiotherapist Andrew Weller said.
Jy Farrar also underwent an operation on Monday after suffering an ankle injury last weekend in the VFL.
“We will now work through a rehabilitation plan and return to play timeline with Jy, but expect him to be sidelined for an extended period,” Weller said.
Christian Petracca has been cleared to play and will be available for selection against the Bombers, while Jake Rogers is progressing well through concussion protocols and is also expected to be available for selection.
In further positive news, Jamarra Ugle-Hagan is a test ahead of the weekend’s double header at People First Stadium, as are StreetSmarts SUNS Academy graduate duo Jai Murray and Beau Addinsall who are in contention for their first matches of 2026.
