On the second night of the 2019 NAB AFL Draft, the Gold Coast SUNS have added a further two young stars to its playing list.

The club began the night with selections 62 and 66, but when a prized target was still available during the early stages of the second round, the club manoeuvred up the draft.

The ability to trade picks on the night, allowed the recruiting team to exchange its 2019 64th selection and the 2020 1st round compensation pick with Geelong and get their man.

SUNS National Recruiting Manager Kall Burns, highlighted exactly why the club wanted to move up the draft order to secure the young West Australian.

“We think Jeremy (Sharp) is a high quality player, who will bring great athletic ability and a penetrating kick to our midfield group,” Burns said.

“His playing style will really complement the players we’ve brought in through the recent trade and draft periods.

“When he was still available during the second round we worked hard to ensure we could move up the order and select him.”

The club’s second and final selection of the night came at pick 60 when Jy Farrar’s name was called out.

The exciting mature-aged recruit from Halls Creek, has had to work hard for his opportunity but it finally came.

“Jy is someone we identified as target for our club, we think he can bring some great qualities to the side and I’m looking forward to seeing him produce some special moments in the red and gold jumper.”

The club will enter Friday morning’s rookie draft with one spot available on its list.
