Last Saturday night’s game against the Brisbane Lions at Metricon Stadium was a great boost for the club.

After the wild weather, we had great night, with over 12,000 supporters cheering on the team to a substantial win.

We would love to see you and your family at the ground on Saturday for our game against the Adelaide Crows.

This week our club made a decision to stand down three of our players who failed to meet the standards required for senior selection.

Like many of you, I'm disappointed that these players won't be playing senior football this weekend, but I am proud that the majority of our players have reached a point where they are mature and experienced enough to accept nothing short of elite standards. That signals strong leadership and I welcome that from our players.

What has become apparent since the start of the season is that we have a clear direction, we are building the baseline towards a period of sustained success.

Our people are experienced and they know the right way to go about building for success and your board is unwavering in our support for them.

Your board believe in the direction we are heading on the field, while off the field we have had a tremendous start to the season.

We have re-signed Gary Ablett for a further three seasons’ just days after the Australian Government announced it will provide $15 million towards the construction of a permanent training and administration base for our club in the Metricon Stadium precinct.

As you arrive at Metricon Stadium this Saturday, you will notice that to the west of the indoor basketball court on Nerang-Broadbeach road that works on this project have already commenced. It is part of a broader $120 million sporting facility which when finished will be one of the best sporting precincts in Australia.

It hasn't stopped there, commercially we have announced Huawei Australia as a partner and United Petroleum has joined a strong suite of partners, including, HOSTPLUS, Fiat, Southport Sharks, Metricon Homes, Virgin Australia and Crust Gourmet Pizza .

We have a number of exciting new partnerships to announce and I am very much looking forward to sharing these with you soon.

It would be fantastic to see you all at the footy this Saturday, supporting your team as we take on the Adelaide Crows at Metricon Stadium.
