Connor Budarick has won the Academy Player of the Year Award.

Budarick has enjoyed an outstanding season in his final year with the Gold Coast SUNS Academy. 

The 18-year-old captained the SUNS Academy to a NAB League series victory in May, averaging 24.4 disposals and nine tackles across the five games.

His performances in that tournament were enough to see him claim the Hunter Harrison Medal as the competition’s best and fairest.

He then represented the Allies at the NAB AFL Under 18 National Championships where he averaged 15.5 disposals and 9.5 tackles. 

Those figures saw him selected in the 2019 NAB AFL Under-18 All Australian team in the back pocket. 

The midfielder has played eight NEAFL matches for the SUNS and earnt a NEAFL Rising Star nomination in Round 17.
