Lachie Weller will play alongside some of the best players in the competition in just over a week after earning selection in the All Stars State of Origin team.

The 27-man team will take on a Victorian side in a charity match for Bushfire Relief on Friday February 28 at Marvel Stadium.

Weller said it was humbling to get the call-up for the blockbuster match.

“It’s obviously a massive honour,” Weller told SUNS Media.

“I’ll probably be starstruck when I get down there but having Stuey around will be good.

“I can’t wait to get down there and have a game.”

SUNS Senior Coach Stuart Dew will serve as an assistant under All Stars coach John Longmire, which Weller says will make him feel more comfortable to have a familiar face guiding him.

“Stuey’s an assistant coach so hopefully he helps me out and plays me where I want to play,” Weller joked.

“I’m just pumped to be a part of it so any position.”

Weller will also get the chance to line up with some former Fremantle teammates.

“(It will be good to see) a couple of my old teammates from Freo – Lachie Neale, Fyfey and Sonny Walters and Brad Hill,” Weller said.

“It will be good to get down there and play with them again.”

All proceeds from ticket sales and any additional donations will go into a Community Relief Fund set up by the AFL to support the local communities in fire affected areas to repair and rebuild their football clubs, including helping footballing families in these impacted communities.
