To our valued members, supporters and partners,

As you might be aware, the AFL has made the decision to suspend the 2020 Toyota AFL Premiership Season until May 31st and cancel the remainder of the 2020 NAB AFL Women's competition in response to the COVID-19 virus.

The Gold Coast SUNS support this decision but recognise how disappointing it is for our members, supporters and partners.

We are all in this together and strong action is required.

The decision by various Governments to close State and Territory borders to slow the spread of the virus meant that the AFL and AFLW seasons could simply no longer continue.

Our focus as a club, a code and as leaders has to be ensuring that players, staff and community remain healthy during these unprecedented times.

Like every organisation, we need to play our role and do everything we can to slow the spread of COVID-19.

We feel for our members, supporters and partners and promise to keep you up-to-date with the latest information and let you know what we are doing as an industry and club.

I know many of you will be doing it tough as the impact of this virus hits hard. Sadly, those impacts look set to continue for some time to come.

Our club and industry is in for a very rough ride too. Like many of you, we must make some tough and strategic decisions to ensure our ongoing viability so we are in a position to bounce back strongly when the footy season resumes.

I’m sure many people will have questions regarding their 2020 memberships and corporate hospitality packages and when we have more information we will share that with you.

Many of our members have told us that you are sticking with us no matter what. Thank-you for that incredible support.

We also thank-you for your patience while we determine our next course of action.

At this stage we’re unsure what lies ahead, but we must meet the challenge head on and hopefully games can resume later this year.

Please look after yourself, your family and friends and play your part in slowing the spread of this virus.
