There were a number of strong AFL Fantasy performances from the match against West Coast and SUNS Media have analysed the best choices heading into Round 3.

Matthew Rowell (MID - $357,000):

A best-on-ground performance saw Matt Rowell finish with a game-high 108 Fantasy points. His points came from a good spread of categories, with 18-year-old finishing with 26 disposals (11 kicks, 15 handballs), one mark, seven tackles and two goals.

Starting the year at $270,000, Rowell’s monster score (which equates to a 135 without shortened quarters) has seen his price increase by almost $100k in two games. It means Rowell has been the most profitable player of the season and is the must-have cash cow of 2020. It’s not too late to get him if you’re one of the 33% of Fantasy Classic coaches who started without the number one draft pick, with a breakeven of -36 Rowell’s price is set to continue to rise rapidly over the coming weeks. Be sure to jump onboard as soon as you can to get maximum value from the Round 2 NAB AFL Rising Star nominee.

Lachie Weller (DEF - $622,000):

Don’t sleep on Lachie Weller. While listed as a defender, the SUNS Academy product has played both matches this season in the midfield, and is set to continue that trend going forward. The 24-year-old was one of Gold Coast’s best on Saturday night, finishing with 24 disposals, two marks, three tackles and a goal for 86 Fantasy points.

Weller finished last season in the midfield for Gold Coast and has trained extensively in that position through the pre-season, both as a winger and inside midfielder. In Round 2 he was involved in everything early and looked dangerous with his speed out of stoppages. Weller currently presents value as a high-scoring defender due to his extensive minutes in the midfield. He currently has an ownership of just 2% in Fantasy Classic, and a breakeven of 46 will see his price rise if he can continue his good form. In Fantasy Draft, he’s still available in 15% of leagues and is someone you can be confident playing on the field.

Noah Anderson (MID - $300,000):

Like his best mate Rowell, Noah Anderson is one of the best Fantasy rookies available in 2020. Rowell’s performance on Saturday night overshadowed what was an equally impressive game from Anderson, who finished with 19 disposals, five marks, two tackles and a goal for 73 Fantasy points.

His Round 1 effort of 33 left more to be desired, but it means Anderson is still available for those who don’t own him at a reasonable price of $300k. He’s being given great opportunity for Fantasy scoring with time in the midfield and is someone you can be confident playing on the field. With a breakeven of -4, Anderson is guaranteed to continue to rise in price so if you are one of the 64% of coaches without him, he is an excellent option to bring into your line-up this week.
