Gold Coast has cleaned up in the AFL Coaches’ Association votes after the Round 7 victory over Sydney at the SCG.

Five SUNS polled in total, claiming 25 of the possible 30 votes on offer.

After being voted the Austworld Player of the Round, Hugh Greenwood was also endorsed by the coaches for his performance, claiming a perfect 10 votes after his 23 disposals, 12 tackles and nine clearances.

Co-captain Jarrod Witts was next best on ground, receiving five votes for his 36 hitouts, 14 disposals and five marks.

Izak Rankine and Brandon Ellis shared four votes apiece after the former kicked two goals from 16 disposals and the latter had 21 disposals, six marks and 566 metres gained.

David Swallow rounded out the vote-getters with 2 from his 22 disposals (13 contested), six tackles and seven clearances.

Sydney’s Luke Parker was the only Swan to poll, receiving five votes.

The AFL Coaches Association’s AFL Champion Player Award is an award voted by the 18 coaching panels on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis after each home and away game, acknowledging outstanding effort to an individual player in a season.
