The AFL Premiership Season is here and Melbourne’s media have turned each of the 16 clubs inside out to give fans an insight into the year ahead.
And while still a year out from entering the AFL competition, the Melbourne Age Chief Football Writer - Caroline Wilson - has described the Gold Coast Football Club as "the most influential side off the field this season" in The Age's official AFL 2010 Magazine.
Wilson also writes; "Soon to make its debut in the VFL...the Gold Coast already has more than 3000 members, major sponsors, a secure senior coach and a respected board and administration.
Chief executive Travis Auld has targeted 10,000 members by late July and 50,000 database fans. Boasting 31 contracted young men who will remain on the club's senior or rookie list next year, Auld describes his club as "a community-based organisation who plays by the rules but nonetheless one that has to make a lot of noise in 2010".
