The Gold Coast SUNS have drafted Townsville Academy product Daisy D’Arcy with pick 60 in the 2020 NAB AFLW Draft.

The 17-year-old comes from a lengthy sporting background where she has represented Queensland in football, rugby sevens, soccer and cricket.

D’Arcy has been playing football for three years and is a clever small who can play just about anywhere on the ground.

She is quick and agile, a trait lent from her rugby background, and is also a strong overhead mark.

A member of the NAB AFLW Academy, D’Arcy represented Queensland in the Under 18 Championships las year and was named amongst the best players in two of the three games.

D’Arcy has been a member of the SUNS Academy since impressing for her local club Hermit Park in Townsville, the same junior club as fellow Academy graduate Ellie Hampson.

She represented the SUNS Academy in the NAB AFLW All Stars match on the weekend, playing a role in the one-point victory for the SUNS.

D’Arcy’s natural athleticism and sporting nous will hold her in good stead in her first season of AFLW football in 2021.
