The Gold Coast SUNS have added Ned Moyle to the club’s list after the conclusion of the 2021 NAB AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft.

With two list spots available following the placement of Connor Budarick and Jarrod Witts across to the long-term injury list, the SUNS were able to select Ned Moyle with Pick 5 and chose to pass on their second selection of the night.

SUNS National Recruiting Manager Kall Burns said the club was pleased to have secured an exciting young ruckman as part of the draft.

“The mid-season draft is a great opportunity to add talented players to our group and given the recent injuries in the ruck department it’s fantastic to be able to bolster that area of our list,” Burns said.

Moyle has been playing in the NAB League with the Oakleigh Chargers in 2021 and has played a number of games for Collingwood’s VFL side as a top-up player this year.

Currently at 19-years old, the developing ruckman already stands at 204cm, weighing 96kg.

“Ned is a tough and combative ruckman with great craft, who we believe has the skills to succeed and adds depth to our ruck stocks.”

“We look forward to getting Ned to the Gold Coast and showcasing his on-going development as part of our football program.”

Moyle will be looking to reconnect with old friends after previously playing with current SUNS listed players Matthew Rowell and Noah Anderson at the Oakleigh Chargers.

Ned will join his new teammates on the Gold Coast and begin training next week.
