The Therabody All-Australian squad has officially been revealed, with Gold Coast SUNS Captains Touk Miller and Jarrod Witts given the nod.

The 44-man squad celebrates the top echelon of athletes in the league in 2022, with the AFL making the decision to increase the squad from 40 to 44 in 2022 to recognise players across all positions more effectively.

This is the second consecutive year that Miller has been selected in the squad, having last year been named in the final All-Australian side.

Known for his ability in and around the contest, the Captain’s selection is reward for his talent, consistency and leadership.

The statistics further solidify his position as an elite onballer.

Miller finished the season ranked second in total clearances in the league, third for inside 50s, seventh in disposals and eighth in tackles.

Teammate and fellow SUNS Captain Jarrod Witts has also been recognised in the squad for the first time in 2022.

It is easy to justify the 29-year-old’s inclusion, after leading the competition in hitouts all year – finishing with 90 more than any other ruckman across the season.

He is also the only recognised ruckman to surpass 100 clearances this season – with Melbourne’s Max Gawn next in line with 94 clearances (noting 303 less hitouts than Witts).

This is the first time that the SUNS have had more than one player recognised in the squad in the same year, further validating the growth and increased competitiveness of the side in 2022.

The final Therabody All-Australian Team will be announced at the 2022 AFL Awards night on Wednesday 24 August in Melbourne.
