2018 Commonwealth Games Volunteers have been invited to attend the Gold Coast SUNS first game back at Metricon Stadium when they take on Geelong, Saturday June 2.

GC SUNS CEO Mark Evans said the club had invited all volunteers to the game as part of the Local Legends campaign, a four-way partnership between the Gold Coast Bulletin, 102.9 Hot Tomato and Village Roadshow Theme Parks.

Evans said the club wished to recognise the contribution of volunteers during the games and believed it was fitting to celebrate those who helped shape the biggest event in the City’s history, when footy returned to Metricon Stadium for the first time since the Games.

“One of the most remarkable aspects of the 2018 Commonwealth Games was the amazing contribution made by volunteers,” Evans said.

“We believe it’s important to acknowledge and thank the volunteers who were the lifeblood of the Games.”

“We look forward to welcoming our volunteers back to Metricon Stadium as we celebrate those who made our Games great.”

As part of a 45-minute pre-game show, there will be the opportunity for Games Shapers who are attending the match to be recognised on field.
