The Gold Coast SUNS had three players affected by injury in the Semi-Final against Fremantle on Saturday.

Winger Tiarna Ernst suffered a heavy collision in the goal square when attempting a mark midway through the second quarter.

She left the field shortly after and AFLW Head Physiotherapist Aaron Duffy said she was subsequently ruled out of the remainder of the match by medical staff.

“Tiarna had a head injury assessment by the doctor as soon as she left the field,” Duffy told the Griffith University AFLW Injury Update.

“She wasn’t cleared to return and we will monitor her over the coming weeks.”

In the third quarter backup ruck Jasmyn Hewett also sustained a heavy knock in the forward line when entering a marking contest.

Duffy said Hewett was assessed and like Ernst ruled out for the rest of the game.

“Jasmyn also suffered an impact to her head and underwent HIA tests,” Duffy said.

“Like Tiarna, she wasn’t cleared to return but will be monitored over the coming weeks.”

Ruck Lauren Bella left the field on multiple occasions but managed to play out the match.

“Lauren had a heavy collision to her right shoulder and reported some pain over the AC joint,” Duffy said.

“She was assessed at the side of the field and was cleared to return to play.

“We’ll follow up with Lauren to determine the best course of action moving forward post-season.”
