The Gold Coast SUNS have informed AFLW player Leah Kaslar she would not be offered a new contract for the 2022 NAB AFLW season.

Kaslar played eight games for the SUNS in 2021 and has played 15 in total for the club across her two seasons.

Named as a foundation captain of the club alongside Sam Virgo, Kaslar has made a lasting impact on the SUNS AFLW program.

Head of Women’s Football Fiona Sessarago thanked Kaslar for her contributions to the club.

“Leah has been a fantastic leader of our club since our AFLW team was established and we can’t thank her enough for everything she’s given to the SUNS,” Sessarago said.

“She has been a highly-respected member of the playing group with her professionalism and commitment to her teammates clear standout traits.

“Unfortunately we weren’t in a position to be able to offer Leah a place on our list for next season but we wish her all the best moving forwards.”

The AFLW Sign & Trade period is currently underway and concludes on June 25.
